Friday Tunes: Weston Estate, Lime Cordiale, Juto, & Carter Ace: Four New Songs For The Honest...

It's Friday and I bet you're looking for some new tunes to add to your playlists. Whether it's because you've had the same songs on repeat or because you want a new sonic experience, I think I can help you out.

Here are four honest songs that may introduce you to some new artists and, hopefully, new sounds.

#1. Robbery - Lime Cordiale

Lime Cordiale has been a pleasant discovery since I played their first song. Reminiscent of The Kooks, Saint Motel, The Mowgli’s, and Favorite Worst Nightmare era Arctic Monkeys, Lime Cordiale supplies that similar level of sandy pop-rock that is easy to love and even easier to groove to. And ‘Robbery’ is a testament to this and why they are at the top of Australian music charts.

We all love a great love song. And we love a good chase. This is the crux of ‘Robbery’. A woman has stolen the singer’s heart in all the hip twisting, snare heavy-horn accompanied-lazy bass riff glory.

‘Robbery’ will be on replay for a while now, simply because of how great it feels. This song is perfect for a sunny day whether it’s spent relaxing, having a picnic, or at the beach.

#2. Homebody - Juto

‘Homebody’ encompasses the quiet war that is the choice to stay home when love, social interactions, constant requests, and our own ‘what-ifs’ seek to steal us away.

Only comprising a metallic progression of slowly strummed chords and vocal a mix of breathy, wispy vocal harmonies to fill the remaining space, Juto provides a relaxed, but declarative anthem for the introverts and socially weary.

A song to remind us it’s okay to stay home and be alone is always welcome, and ‘Homebody’ fits the bill snuggly.

Regardless of whether you want to be alone or are itching to get out of the house, this song deserves a place on your playlist.

#3. Pear - Weston Estate

It is always inspiring to see a group of young artists gains traction, and Weston Estate is certainly on their way with a solid (and growing) compilation of singles.

Their latest single ‘Pear’ is an enveloping of watery instruments, soul-bearing lyrics, and a wonderfully complementary vocal performance.

An outstanding feature of ‘Pear’ is how each singer fits beautifully on this track. Each member holds their own and distinguishes themselves from the former primarily because of their tone.

While ‘Pear’ is their latest release, it easily is a favorite for me. You will get hooked by the smoothness of it. Give it a listen and tell me I’m wrong.

#4. What They Think - Carter Ace, Swoon, Andrea Chahayed

‘What They Think’ is the bouncy RnB song I never knew I needed. I can only describe this as addictive. Within the first ten seconds, the hook was unforgettable (yes, that was intended) and I had to put it on repeat.

Carter Ace, Swoon, and Andrea Chahayed join on this track, done with all the fake acting and false love. Yet, this vulnerability layered over an intoxicating accompaniment presents an excitement and freedom to the listener, and you can’t help but dance to the heartbreak.

Every aspect of this is crafted, and there is a drunken swagger to it that is undeniable. It’s simply enjoyable and a gem for you to add to a playlist of your choosing (free of charge, of course:)).
